Day Five - January 9, 2012

Today was a big day for the Wagner boys.  The boys had a 11 a.m. interview at Churchie.  Colin and Mason weren't official "students" until they passed this interview.  We got up early and took the boys to the Citrus Cafe for a nice breakfast.  The boys were told bring a sample of their school work from Queen of Peace and a book that they had read.  After we arrived at Churchie, we headed to the Prep School office to meet Peter Collins.  He is the head of Churchie's Prep School.  We sat at a table in his office and he asked us to discuss the academic strengths of both boys and our opinion of their school work.  I felt both Paul and I answered honestly.  He then asked each of the boys a few questions about their previous musical and academic histories.  Of course, both boys highlighted sports as their favorite part of school.  He then asked them to read aloud from their books.   Colin had just completed reading "The Hunger Games" and read really well for Mr. Collins.  I was surprised that he had Colin read several pages!  Then, Mason read "Football Hero".  He was well into the third page when he paused to read a difficult word.  When Mason was finished, Mr. Collins complimented Mason on the way he attacked the unfamiliar word.   At this point of the interview, I wasn't sure where we were headed.  The boys did well, but I was wondering when/if we found out we got into the school.  All of a sudden, Mr. Collins set down his paper work and said "It appears you have two fine young men here.  Churchie would be pleased to have them as students".   Whew!  I was so glad it was over!  The boy are to start school Tuesday, January 24th.   Here is a photo of the back of Churchie that we took that morning:
