Our Visit to Australia - Day Six

Today was a great day!  We woke up early and rented a car.  We had a day to ourselves and planned to take a drive to the beach.   First, we had to take care of business.  After lengthy discussions and much debate, we decided to put a contract on 6 Parklane Place!  We filled out the rental agreement online and decided to drive to Bulimba to visit Ray White, the real estate company.  We were not sure if there were any other offers on the house.  Apparently, submitting an application doesn't mean you automatically get the house.  The owner of the home gets to review all offers and chooses the offer that he feels most comfortable with.

We hand delivered documents to the real estate agents office and then drove past the house once more.  I could see ourselves there.  I really hoped to get that house.  If not, I was happy to chose the house one street over on Portside.  Paul and Colin didn't exactly agree.

We also drove by Sts. Peter and Paul's school one last time.  Paul wanted to get out and go into the church to check it out.  Checking out the church was a good idea since that was the church we would attend regardless of the school we picked for the kids.  Upon opening the doors to the church, there was a student mass in session and the children were singing "Blessed Be The Lord" at the front of the church.  I know this sounds corny, but it felt like home half way across the world.  I sang that very same song as a child in my student masses at Cathedral and the kids sing that same song at Queen of Peace.  Paul and I looked at each other and smiled.  It was adorable.

We left the church and headed to the interstate to go to the beach.  Paul was driving and the car had the steering wheel on the right side.  I was a little apprehensive, but he did just fine.  We were told the drive to the beach would take about an hour.  As it turned out, it was an easy 40 minute drive, and to our surprise, we passed a Sea World, Warner Bros. Movie World, Dreamworld and a Wet & Wild Water Park along the way!  Things were looking up.  Paul had me take pictures of the water slides because he knew Mason would love that.   Wow, I had no idea these attractions were less than a half-hour from us!

Here are some photos of Colin at Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast of Australia.  It was their winter on this trip, so the beaches aren't crowded, but warm enough for short and t-shirts.

The trip to Surfer's Paradise was great.  The water was beautiful and the weather perfect.  We ate lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe in Surfer's Paradise.  I hope to come back here a lot while we live in Australia.  It is a beautiful place.
